Eligibility:
The program is open for professional artists working with photo/video-based art in Finland and Sweden. All professional artists based in Finland are eligible to apply for the residency in Stockholm. All professional artists based in Sweden are eligible to apply for the residency in Helsinki.

1. THE RESIDENCY IN HELSINKI

One residency is available for two months in Helsinki during January-February 2010. During the residency there is an opportunity to work in the Hippolyte Studio in February 2010 (or at another date to be agreed separately), as well as an opportunity to develop a discursive event in collaboration with Hippolyte. The Hippolyte Studio is a space in conjunction to the main gallery of Photographic Gallery Hippolyte. Hippolyte Studio offers a possibility for artists and visitors alike to study processes situated on the borders of the expressions of photographic art and other expressions of visual art. We want to offer a possibility for experimentation as well as quick reaction. Hippolyte Studio is in connection to the gallery’s office in the room facing the yard. The residency at HIAP
HIAP is located within the Cable Factory cultural complex in the Ruoholahti district of central Helsinki. HIAP Studios are located on the fourth floor in the Cable Factory. The three studios that make up the residency each occupy approx. 60 m2 and are fully equipped for living and working. Each studio includes a private bathroom, cooking area, sleeping loft, computer and broadband Internet connection. HIAP is the largest international residency center in Finland and the only one operating in the capital. The program is focused primarily on the visual arts and is open to artists from various disciplines. Residencies are also offered for curators, dancers, choreographers, writers and researchers within several special programs. Every year between 15-20 art professionals from around the world are offered a working period of 1-3 months in the program. The residency in Helsinki includes.
- Travel costs to and from the residency - A grant of 10 000 SEK - Free accommodation and studio with Internet access - Opportunity to work/present work in the Hippolyte Studio in February 2010, or at another date to be agreed separately (production costs not included). - Opportunity to develop discursive event/artist talk/seminar in collaboration with Hippolyte during the residency - Various other opportunities to create contacts and participate in local activities and/or concentrate on individual work

2. THE RESIDENCY IN STOCKHOLM

One residency is available for two months in Stockholm during December 2009 – January 2010. During the residency there is an opportunity to develop a discursive event/artist talk/seminar in collaboration with CFF, as well as an exhibition process at The Finnish Institute Gallery in Stockholm 27/1–27/2 2010.
The Finnish Institute Gallery is situated on the entrance floor of the Finnish Institute in central Stockholm. The rectangular gallery space is c. 70 m2 with one window wall. The Finnish Institute covers transportation and insurance costs for work, travel costs, and assistance during the installation work, printing and posting of invitation cards. The residency studio
Malongen is situated in the Söder district, a nice and lively area in the centre of Stockholm. The building, dating from the 1670's, houses several other studios for artists.
The studio flat is roughly 100 m2. It offers an easel, a work table and good lighting. The two-room flat with kitchen and bathroom is fully furnished and equipped with a radio and a TV set and Internet access. When necessary, the artist can be accompanied by a family member.
